Billing Information and FAQs

Clear Answers for Your Ambulance Service Billing Questions

At Alert Ambulance, we understand that receiving a bill for ambulance services can raise questions. Our goal is to make the billing process as transparent and straightforward as possible. Below, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about ambulance billing, insurance coverage, and why you may receive a bill.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Coverage for ambulance services depends on your insurance plan. Most insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover ambulance services that are deemed medically necessary. This means the service must be:

  • Required for a medical emergency.
  • Transporting you to the nearest appropriate medical facility.

To verify your coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance provider. If you need assistance, our team is happy to help guide you through the process.

Ambulance services are a form of medical care, and like other healthcare services, they come with associated costs. You may receive a bill if:

  • Your insurance does not cover the full cost of the service.
  • You do not have insurance, or your insurance claim was denied.
  • There is a co-pay, deductible, or patient responsibility portion determined by your insurance provider.

If you have questions about a specific bill, please contact our billing department directly.

Medical necessity refers to services that are essential for diagnosing, treating, or managing a medical condition. Ambulance transport is considered medically necessary when it is unsafe for the patient to travel by any other means due to their medical condition.

Alert Ambulance submits claims directly to your insurance provider. You should receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurer, detailing what was covered and any amount you may be responsible for. If you did not receive an EOB or have concerns, contact us to confirm your claim was processed.

If your insurance only covers part of the cost, you may be responsible for paying the remaining balance. This could include:

  • Co-payments
  • Deductibles
  • Services not covered by your policy

We offer flexible payment options to help manage your bill.
